You’ve got your list of prospects, and you know you’ve got to reach out (because fortune is in the follow up, right?!), because you’re committed to doing business. So you’re about to dial, or text, or email, and the nervous fear kicks in. Maybe your stomach is churning, or you’re sweating, or your mind is racing about how they’ll respond. Drop a 🙋🏼♀️if you can relate.
Early in my entrepreneurial journey, someone taught me that this fear arises from ego: we’re thinking too much about ourselves and not about how we can serve those on the list. Here’s great technique to calm the fear: picture that person on the list and think “how can I serve this person?” I swear it immediately stops the butterflies in my stomach! Go ahead, try it!
So what does this have to do with freedom in pursuing success God’s way?
Our surrender to Christ calls us to freedom because our eternal life is secure in His sacrifice on the cross. And that freedom is not to be kept to ourselves or used to further our agenda. As Paul says in this verse, we are to use this liberty to serve others in love.
This liberty is a result of surrendering our agenda and our way, even in business. Our personal agenda and those worldly business practices (for me that means the driving, striving, and achievement chasing) no longer fit who we are in Him. He breaks every chain that holds us back from becoming what we’re created to be: His ambassadors and co-laborers, purposed to build up, encourage and serve others. Which is what we get to do in business!
I hope that reminds you of your freedom today! Try out that exercise and DM me with how it works for you!
