To celebrate the re-release of EYES OF A STRANGER, I recorded a brand new commentary with my good buddy James Garibay, who’d never seen it before. While it seems like a pretty straightforward piece of slasher sleaze, there’s actually a lot of depth and innumerable complexities that make this one stand out from the majority of the horror films released around its time.
Lauren Tewes (pronounced “tweeze,” not “tooze”) plays a television news anchor reporting on a series of murders/sexual assaults on the streets of picturesque Miami Beach. While not at the station, she takes it upon herself to find the necessary evidence to put the psychopath away before he reaches Tracy (Jennifer Jason Leigh in a truly stand-out performance), who is blind, deaf, and mute.
