1991 was a wild year. The Gulf War, the release of the video of the arrest and beating of Rodney King, The Warsaw Pact was dissolved, South Africa ended Apaetheid, and Ukraine celebrated its first independence day. All of these events preceded the American late summer August radio debut of the song “Smells like teen spirit”. The song, released by a relatively unknown band coming straight out of the Seattle rock melting pot, would fundamentally reshape the landscape of rock music forever. In a short span of 3 years the band had the world at its fingertips. After their first US tour in 2 years, Nirvana began their first European tour in 1994. After their concert in Munich, Germany, things took a tragic turn. The following month their lead singer and frontman would be found dead in his home in Seattle, Washington.
