All through human history strange lights or objects have been reportedly seen moving through our skies. Before the advent of modern science many of those sightings were attributed to Gods, angels, spirits, or other supernatural phenomenon. Just going back as far as 1925 there have been near 60,000 reported sightings of unidentified aerial phenomenon. But it wasn’t until shortly at WWII that the US government decided to lend a critical eye to what had become collectively referred to as flying disks. Though a majority of the UAPs do not fit the profile of flying disks the term became popular after one civilian pilot, Kenneth Arnold, reported seeing glowing blue objects flying in formation of Washington State’s Mount Ranier in late June of 1947. He reported these objects were moving in a motion “like a saucer if you skip it over water”. And soon after the local newspapers reported this, the term flying saucer, was born. Shortly after such a widely reported news story was circulated the U.S. government began the project of investigating these strange sightings and other like it to determine if these seemingly harmless phenomenon were part of some intelligent effort that posed a danger to national security. Though it went through two earlier stages the name of this effort to investigate, document, and assess these seemingly unexplainable events came to be known as “Project Blue Book”.
