Episode 037 - The British Stand-Up Coming: A Conversation with Ashley Blaker
ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Ashley Blaker grew up in a traditional Jewish home in the London suburbs, attending a private school and eventually Oxford and Cambridge as well. Along the way, he stoked his interest in writing and performing comedy, ultimately earning his big break at the BBC, where he worked alongside some of the most eminent comedians in the country.
Ashley later came out from "behind the camera" to develop his own performances, built largely around observational humor of the Jewish community. Dressed as he is in traditional Jewish garb, his unique style and self-deprecating manner disarms and delights audiences from across the Jewish and even non-Jewish spectrum.
As of the original recording date, Ashley is embarking on his most ambitious project to date: a 5-week run directly off-Broadway, in the heart of the entertainment district. For tickets visit Ticketmaster or call the box office directly at (212) 921-7862. And of course, you can find his material on YouTube, Facebook and elsewhere online.
