048: Welcome back to the podcast. Today I have Kayla Monville sharing about her two children with autism and how she’s working to educate others as an author.
Kayla tells us that it’s never an easy or normal day in her house with two children who have autism. She is also a special education teacher and as we dive into her story she shares that not even that prepared her for being the parent she is today.
We talk about how much to share about our children, mom guilt and the idea that a single diagnosis isn’t always as simple as a recognized diagnosis.
Kayla has been very productive during the pandemic and wrote and published a book about autism. She shares that she wanted to normalize and bring awareness to families that were being thrust into the world of autism. Kayla says her family felt so lost and such a lack of resources in their local community. Rock with Me, Autism Inspired I Love You Book can be shared with parents as well as siblings, cousins, classmates etc. She is currently working on a second book.
