Ep.30 Toxic Household and Skincare Products Cause Hormone Disruption
Many of us are unaware that household and skin products contain toxins that leech into our body. These toxins are hormone disruptors. They get trapped in the cell membrane, causing inflammation which hardens the cell walls. When the cell walls are hardened, they become inefficient at transporting hormones such as insulin into and out of the cells. Over time, hormone disruption due to cellular inflammation from toxins can lead to all sorts of chronic diseases. In the case where the hormone insulin is no longer able to get into the cells, this is known as type-2 diabetes.
Common products containing toxins include plastic tupperware made with carcinogenic xenoestrogen, cookware coated in teflon, deodorants containing aluminum and polyglycol, shampoos, as well as skin and beauty products. Women apply an average of 135 chemicals per day onto their body. These chemicals come hidden in beauty products, moisturizers, etc., but since these chemicals are applied on top of the skin, they’re not required by the FDA to be listed on the product label. However, our skin absorbs all these chemicals, bringing them right into our bodies driving inflammation and hormone disruption.
If you want to be healthier, Dr. McCollum strongly encourages you to ask yourself three questions:
Once you have made the choice to become healthy, it’s vital to set some goals for yourself. What would you like to have accomplished six months, a year, or five years from now? Handwrite your goals as if they have already happened. This is one of your greatest tools for manifesting whatever you would like to see happen in your health or life.
