In this podcast Bob and Jacci look specifically at the paranoid profile and discuss the treatment plan and current thinking behind effective cure for the paranoid presentation. Bob talks about how he works with the paranoid person and also mentions specific books which could be useful for therapists to consider when working with the paranoid personality. He also talks about how to first contact somebody who is coming from a paranoid position and how to work with them to decrease their paranoid thoughts. The Paranoid Client will attempt to control their environment as part of their survival mechanism. they may set tests for the therapist due to their 'Don't trust' injunction. They are often very suspicious and may ask a lot of questions and seek information to satisfy their need for control.
The paranoid Client tries to make their world predictable, they are often hyper vigilant and on guard for inconsistencies.
