It's a fun one this week with the newest Hawkeye beat writer: Kennington Lloyd Smith III of the Des Moines Register. He shares his journey to Iowa, including how Paul Finebaum dubbed him "an award winner and the best name in the industry" and his time covering the Paralympic Games at Rio 2016. They move on to discuss the upcoming Hawkeye season, Kennington's "parachute" opinion on 2020 and what it means for 2021 vs. the rollercoaster Ben & Harrison rode last season, and how the preseason rankings set Iowa up well for a potential NY6 Bowl. They cap it off with some light NBA Summer League talk as Joe Wieskamp and Luka Garza take the hardwood in Vegas.
Thanks again to Kennington for joining. He can be found on Twitter @SkinnyKenny_ (where you can drop him your cold weather tips!) and read in print and online for the Des Moines Register. His latest is a great feature on Tyler Goodson's prep for 2021 and beyond.
