Shaykh Abdalqadir as-Sufi, the influential Muslim teacher who was born Ian Dallas, worked as an actor and script writer in the 1960s and converted to Islam after a visit to the holy city of Fez in Morocco. Joyce Shrubbs, who joined the Royal Observer Corps during World War II and rose to become its highest ranking woman officer.
