The Art Of Listening To Your Body
Health & Fitness:Mental Health
**Trigger warning** This intro and podcast contains discussions around sexual violence and suicide. Please use your discretion before reading on.
I was honored to be joined by Leah Parsons. I knew she had her own pain story however I wasn't aware of the full history behind her story.
Leah's daughter Rehtaeh was just 17 yrs old when she died by suicide after being gang-raped and cyber-abused, placing Leah in a path of "honouring pain and becoming the voice of Rehtaeh.“
What happened to Leah's own body after this experience is the second part to this story. And how she walks with the dark and the light at the same time.
Her journey is one of going inward and listening to her intuition.
Leah is now walking a path of healing, offering workshops and presentations to bring awareness on topics of cyber abuse, sexualized violence, mental health, and healthy ways to walk through pain and suffering to students, educators, parents, communities, victims and their loved ones.
Leah has spoken all over Canada and the US on topics including:
• The impact of Cyber-abuse
• Sexualized violence in our society
• Mental health and suicide awareness
• The spiritual journey through grief
Leah now offers programs for those looking for healing both on and offline:
1. Soul Speak - the journey inward to change your mindset, honour your body, and embrace your sense of spirit (online)
2. Yoga - on and offline
3. Grief Retreats
