“The Month of Moss” continues at Catching Up On Cinema, as Trevor and Kyle review Alex Ross Perry's, Her Smell (2018)!
Starring Elisabeth Moss as the self-destructive front woman of a 90's femme punk band, the film is a scummy and delirious descent into and out of the depths of madness.
Segmented into 5 long scenes that detail pivotal moments in the evolution and degradation of the band and it's leader, the film serves as a stellar exhibition of Elizabeth Moss' range and fearlessness as an actor.
Often uncomfortable, and intentionally alienating, both in aesthetics and scene construction, the film is challenging, but utterly confident and capable in what it is trying to achieve.
Much like the genre of punk itself, it is a product that will be misunderstood by many, but will be loved by the very few that it actually cares to win the affection of.
