Moment of Meditation: Veil Torn (Matthew 27:51)
''And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom (Matthew 27:51).''
A curtain separated the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place in Temple. Through that curtain only one person could pass. And only once a year at that. One specific day. One specific time. An intricate ritual preceded the high priest being able to pass through the curtain.
What was so special about this curtain? This curtain separated God from His people. On the one side of the curtain, the priests and Levites represented the people before God as their pastors. On the other side was the holy, righteous God. Whom no one can see without dying (Exodus 33:20).
When Jesus died on the cross, the curtain was torn in two. From the top to the bottom. From God toward man. God tore the curtain to allow access to Him through Christ.
In Christ, you now have unrestricted access to your heavenly Father. You may come before Him in prayer, as we do in the Lord's Prayer, without having to ask someone else to intercede for you. Because Jesus intercedes for you in Heaven. And He will hear your prayer. Amen.
