The Plant Centered and Thriving Podcast
Health & Fitness:Nutrition
Is it really possible to have a healthy vegan pregnancy? This vegan entrepreneurial mom says "Yes!"
"I think sometimes people want to overcomplicate I’m vegan and I’m pregnant"
Holly MacKinnon is the founder of Small Seed, a plant based snack company whose mission is to use food as a way of leaving a positive impact on the world. She lives in Raleigh, NC with her husband (and co-founder), daughter and soon-to-be son. She has successfully had two vegan pregnancies and is now raising vegan children. Today, we discuss common questions vegan mothers get while pregnant, how to deal with the opinion of others, how to find a doctor and much much more!
For Holly, going vegan was a pretty quick and easy journey. After making the connection that we raise and slaughter animals for (unnecessary) consumption and never truly enjoying any animal products, she wanted to give veganim a try. Holly says, "I realized if I couldn't look an animal in the eyes and take it's life, why did I deserve to have someone else do the messy hard part for me." Holly and her husband decided to go vegan overnight and never looked back.
