Welcome to another insomniac edition of The Blind Rage Podcast (I’d put an exclamation point at the end of this sentence, but my enthusiasm is lacking). This time, it’s the 2010 overlooked and underrated true crime thriller DEAR MR. GACY, starring Jesse Moss (GINGER SNAPS) and William Forsythe. Based on the best-selling memoir THE LAST VICTIM by Jason Moss (no relation to the film’s star), it follows a college student who gets a little more than he bargains for when he decides to begin corresponding with convicted serial killer John Wayne Gacy, portrayed a little too convincingly by Forsythe.
For this commentary, I offer my thoughts on the film, as well as compare the script to the source material which, at times, is vastly different. Also, I highly recommend checking out THE LAST VICTIM. It’s an incredibly compelling, and oftentimes unnerving, account of an impressionable kid who delves a little too deeply into the minds of some of history’s most twisted criminals.
