A Letter to the Woman Who Chose Life // Makayla Carmichael
Often, when we talk about adoption, it’s easy to focus on the couple who have discerned that the Lord is calling them to adopt. And, that is a beautiful part of the story - one I’ve featured on past Letters to Women episodes, in fact.
But I think that the other side of the story, the experience of a woman making an adoption plan for her unborn child, is something we don’t focus on enough. What does it look like to be truly pro-life and to support these women at all stages of their motherhood?
In today’s episode, I’m sitting down with Makayla Carmichael.
When she was seventeen years old, Makayla chose adoption for her daughter. We talk about her experience making an adoption plan, the resources that she wished would have existed during that season of her life, and the advice and encouragement she would give to women who find themselves in a similar situation of considering adoption for their unborn children.
Maybe you clicked “play” on this episode because you are in a situation where you’re discerning adoption for your unborn baby. Or, maybe you want to learn more about supporting women as they make an adoption plan in the face of an unexpected pregnancy. Regardless of the place or seasons that you find yourself in as you listen into this conversation, sister, this letter is for you
