On this episode of the ‘cast, Courtney and Shaun are chatting Folk Magick and country witchcraft! Folk Magick is an amalgamation of ritual traditions, established mythologies, and traditions that vary enormously based on socio-economic histories and traditions. Folk Magick happens in the backwoods, on the cliffs, and in the rural part of the world, but you’ll also find it in city downtowns and neighborhoods of the common people, constructed from regional practices of the local culture and the tools that the every-witch has access to. Basically, Folk Magick is the mysticism of survival. Recourses for this week’s episode include Traditional Witchcraft - A Cornish Book of Ways by Gemma Gary, Backwoods Witchcraft by Jake Richards, “Connecting with your Heritage” video from Chaotic Witch Aunt, Encyclopedia of Psychology and Religion by David Waldron, “POWWOWING IN PENNSYLVANIA: HEALING RITUALS OF THE DUTCH COUNTRY” from glencairnmuseum.org and “What is Kabbalah?” from reformjudaism.org & “From Jewish Mysticism to Magic” from myjewishlearning.com.
