On this week's Offbeat, we take a look at an Appalachian legend which has survived several decades and continues fascinating folks. Point Pleasant, WV is known as home of the Mothman. However, cryptic sightings were not the first unusual thing to happen in Point Pleasant.
Just before Mothman sightings began, an area man had a strange experience with UFOs and an alien which he claimed communicated with him. Following his encounter, area residents began spotting a human-like creature with giant wing span that would become known as the Mothman.
