024 Developing quality property, measuring the social impact of your development and working with providers with Victoria Sinclair
In this episode Victoria Sinclair talks about her passion for delivering high quality property for supported living. She draws on her experience developing supported living property for young people who have been in care and people who have experienced homelessness. She shares some great advice about working with supported living providers and discusses a study she commissioned measuring the social impact of the properties she has developed.
After a career in tv as a presenter and producer, she followed her passion for property. She started investing about 7 years ago and set up Bricks and Soul in 2018.
Bricks & Soul is a property development company which works in partnership with registered providers, councils, support providers and national charities. Developing quality homes for vulnerable people with a broad spectrum of needs across the North West without any need for government subsidy.
The name Bricks & Soul captures the two strands of the work, which is providing good quality homes for people in society who need it most (the ‘bricks’) and encouraging wider social activation factors to make a house a home (the ‘soul’). To do this Bricks & Soul creates homes where people feel proud, safe & secure by hosting bespoke place making events that help residents to integrate into the existing local community.
Victoria is passionate about supporting local economies and working with local people. She wants to ensure that the renovation of the houses are done by local people for local people. Recently she had a report commissioned by economic specialists to measure the value of the work and the results are astonishing. This report can be found at www.bricksandsoul.co.uk
