Rob and Cynthia Griffing: Denver Broncos, AFCWA, and Nail Guns
#016. Rob attended Elysian Fields HS in east Texas and played football, baseball, tennis, and ran track. He is ambidextrous, which made him a very dangerous baseball player. He was given the opportunity to play both baseball and football at Taft Junior College where he was a part of the 1982 football National Championship team. He transferred to Mesa College in Grand Junction, CO and played baseball and football where he was a 2 time runner up in the National Championship game. From there he signed as a free agent with the Denver Broncos and the NY Football Giants until a weight room injury sidelined him. After the NFL, he served as a graduate assistant at UNLV until the head coach got fired and at that point, he made the decision to come back to Texas to coach Texas High School football.
Cynthia is currently the Head Athletic Trainer at Kincaid HS, and the President of the American Football Coaches Wives Association. She and Rob had some fun in their careers as they served at two different high schools...and actually played each other. Who won? You will have to listen to find out the overall record in the family.
