Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) is a beloved science fiction drama directed by Steven Spielberg, once again teaming up with his Sugarland Express cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond, both of whom were nominated for an Academy Award (along with 6 other nominations). Only Zsigmond won, for Best Cinematography, but this is still considered by many to be one of the best science fiction movies ever made. Click play to hear if we agree!
