To coincide with this month's Pride celebration, this week's episode of The Native Immigrants Podcast is a Pride Special, where they discuss South Asians and the LGBTQ+ community.
Here's what they dissect this week (timecodes included!):
(05:45) The Native Immigrants discuss the history of the Pride festival and where the celebrations take place for this year's 50th anniversary. They also discuss having an Asian Pride Mela and the QueerAsia festival
(20:17) Tan France event - Jyojo B recounts her experience going to Tan France's book launch event and how she blagged her way into meeting him!
(32:47) Birmingham School Protests - With the ongoing protests in Birmingham regarding the teaching of LGBT lessons in schools, the Native Immigrants look at the situation, discuss their opinions on the matter, and focus on how it needs to progress. They also talk to Gay Rights activists Khakan Qureshi and Peta Cooper on their thoughts on the No Outsiders Project and the ensuing protests.
Special thanks to our brudda Niraj Chag for providing this season's brand new theme music!
