A new EU project involving people from all corners of the bloc won’t succeed unless their views are taken seriously. That’s the warning from Fine Gael MEP Sean Kelly.
The Conference on the Future of Europe was officially launched in the European Parliament in Strasbourg yesterday (Sunday May 9). It will be overseen by the European Commission, European Parliament and Council.
The year-long project will engage citizens on the debate about Europe’s future challenges and priorities. The goal of the Conference is to give citizens a greater say in shaping Europe’s policies.
But Sean Kelly says it has to be a bottom-up and not top-down exercise for it to succeed.
