Who qualifies as Hollywood royalty today? In this podcast episode, HCC film professors Marie Westhaver and Mike Giuliano agree that Angelina Jolie stands tall among the current movie star lineup. Whether standing next to Brad Pitt or on her own, she has received as much celebrity journalism coverage as any star on the scene. Her breakthrough role was "Girl, Interrupted" (1999), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, and she has been a reliable presence ever since. In the box office hit "Maleficent" (2014), for instance, this supremely confident actress seems perfectly at ease wearing horns on her head. Marie and Mike also discuss Jolie's work as a screenwriter and director in films including "In the Land of Blood and Honey" (2011).
