Sinn Fein MEP Chris MacManus says a new EU project that will engage citizens in shaping Europe’s future mustn’t be hijacked by politicians.
The Conference on the Future of Europe was formally launched in Ireland today (Friday May 14). It’s a collaborative initiative involving the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the EU. And it will involve a year-long series of conferences and consultations aimed at promoting greater citizen engagement in determining the future of the EU.
Chris MacManus says there’s a danger it will become a big talking shop that won’t deliver on its promises.
