Teaching Humanity Remotely with Dr. Mindy Shaw
Kids & Family:Education for Kids
In this episode, Dr. Shaw examines the next item to come up in the Q&A section of her recent parenting book called I LIKE HOW YOU SPEAK TO ME... A PARENT'S GUIDE TO EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION WITH CHILDREN. If you are new to this series, Dr. Shaw has been going through the "ten most frequently asked questions" from parents who are fans of her podcast. Those questions, plus one 11th bonus question, make up the closing section of her parenting guide, and that Q&A section offers some very practical applications of the content offered up in the first half of her book, and that is Dr. Shaw's 10 governing principles for effective communication with children. This week, she dives into sixth question from the Q&A and that is... "What do I do if my child won’t eat the food that I serve?" Dr. Shaw shares a few fascinating angles on this question, and one point of view involves one of her favorite topics, front-loading. Clearly, if there's an agreement with your child ahead of time, this predicament will be avoided, and if not, there will be natural consequences. Dr. Shaw also talks quite a bit in this podcast about giving responsibility to a child. It's more great tips for parents and educators, so enjoy!
