The business Anneke Forzani created builds on a life-long passion for languages and different cultures. Growing up as a first generation American with Belgian parents, she learned Dutch/Flemish at an early age and spent many summers with relatives in Europe. She began learning Belgium’s second language, French, while in high school.
A purpose-driven entrepreneur, Anneke established Language Lizard in 2005 to support the academic and social development of language learners, and promote multicultural education. Language Lizard now offers bilingual books in over 50 languages, audio resources, posters, and many teaching resources to support culturally responsive instruction, helping educators build community in diverse classrooms.
Anneke is a member of the New Jersey Bilingual Educators/Teachers of English as a Second Language Association and the National Network for Early Language Learning. She has written articles related to early language and culture learning which have appeared in numerous blogs and online magazines, and has been featured on Public Radio International's The World in Words. Anneke is the author of the children's books Happy After All, Who Are We?, and With Flying Colors: Color Idioms, and the teacher's resource Building Bridges with Bilingual Books and Multicultural Resources: A Practical Manual of Lesson Plans, Literacy Games, and Fun Activities from Around the World to Celebrate Diversity in the Classroom and at Home.
