State budget.  Lawmakers return to Lansing this week to work on the state budget and will find state government awash in a sea of unanticipated state & federal revenue. Will they spend it wisely or wastefully? Will lawmakers return part of this surplus to state taxpayers or grow the size & cost of state government next year to an unsustainable level?
