In this episode, Monique Beaver shares the importance of mindful movement practices as a way of reclaiming our emotions. Monique Beaver is a Psychologist and Yoga facilitator and created her business, Mindfully Curious, to encompass a holistic approach to therapy and healing. With Monique’s background in dance and movement, she noticed that when she danced, her overthinking mind and Type A personality would pause, and she would be present and focused on her movement, the teacher, and her body. This inspired her curiosity of a bottom-up approach where the focus shifted to the body and its sensations rather than getting stuck in the stories we tell ourselves. Monique also discusses different ways of embodied movement and what it means to cultivate emotional sovereignty.
