On this episode I chatted with Jim Connelly about his family business which was established in 1907. The company was founded by Andy and Morgan Connelly in September 1907 in El Reno, Oklahoma. The brothers emigrated from County Cork, Ireland to Oklahoma. In fact, they came to Oklahoma just before it became a state (Oklahoma became the 46th state in the United States November 16, 1907). The Rock Island Railroad has its headquarters in El Reno and at that time the railroad was the major means of transportation. They constructed many brick streets, bridges, and did work for the Rock Island Railroad. Connelly Paving Company constructed the first highway in the state of Oklahoma from Bartlesville to Dewey, which was approximately 6.5 miles.
Since the days back in El Reno, Connelly Paving moved a few times and currently headquarters in Oklahoma City. Connelly Paving works with general contractors all around the central Oklahoma region. We are a fifth generation family business that has operated within the central Oklahoma region for over 100 years. Connelly Paving Company prides itself on serving their customers and providing a quality product.
