In 2007 he was appointed to the position of Research Director of Teaching, Learning, and Leadership at the Australian Council for Educational Research. He took up his present position at the University of Melbourne at the beginning of 2011. He is currently a member of the Victorian Minister for Education Expert Panel for Schools.
