Philippians 2:12-13
GOD AT WORK
Paul is happy and encouraged to understand that all his fellow believers in the region of Philippi are living their lives for Jesus with obedience, humility, reverence, and passion.
But Paul furthermore motivates them to be devoted to Jesus Christ wholeheartedly and to be obedient and faithful to the Lord even after his departure.
Paul says that they should work out their salvation with fear and trembling; all that they have been taught and learned by the Lord to be put into action in their life and also to work their salvation in the grace of God.
Paul uses these two words “Fear and trembling”
1Paul does not mean that one should always be fearful and tremble before God as if seeing a danger but he meant that one should activate his/her salvation with complete reverence, commitment, with obedience and humility.
2In another context, fear and trembling also means that one should work out their salvation by not indulging in the mission of God through wrong motives or invent false doctrines but to work out with love and goodwill because Salvation to people is by the Grace of God.
Furthermore, Paul encourages the believers to work out their salvation with sincerity because God is working in and through them to will and to act according to His good purpose.
How can we understand His goodwill and purpose in our lives?
The primary goal of God working in us is to fulfill the good purposes of God in our lives.
#1 To lead a pure and a holy life
#2 To be called as His children
#3 To transform us into his image
#4 For us to reflect the image of Christ through our actions and speech.
#5 To attain the gift of Salvation
#6 To work out our salvation with obedience, faithfulness, perseverance, and humbleness.
#7 And to attain the gift of eternal life in heaven.
Today, let us be encouraged to know that God is living in us and is still at work in our lives. Each one of us are chosen, appointed, and anointed by God to fulfill His mission in this world.
In Ephesians 2:10, Paul says ““For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
We are called to live our lives for God with utmost obedience and faithfulness because those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone (Titus 3:8)
Let us fight the good fight, let us keep our Faith firm in the Lord, and let us run our race victoriously for Jesus Christ acknowledging that “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you (US) will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6).
Let us pray
Dear Lord, our Heavenly Father . Help us to to have a heart of obedience, help us to trust in you, help us to have faith in you so that we can firm up what you have asked us to do and accomplish what you have purposed in our lives. Be with us so that we can complete the fight and race ahead of us. Help us to walk with. You always. In Jesus Name. Amen.
