Sunday School - Romans 7:6-8 - For I Had Not Known Sin But By The Law

8/29/21 - The law is not our ally. It lays out the perfect righteousness of God which cannot be kept, and demands judgment against breakers of its contents. All of man was both condemned by the law, and held under its judgement unto death. Our state under the law was hopeless, and God sent forth His Son to be our substitute in judgement, dying in our place and completing our obligation to the law. Does all this mean the law is sin? Nay, because we were sinners and guilty towards God before the law was given. The law came for two purposes, to reveal unto mankind their guilt before God, and point them towards the propitiation of Christ Jesus.
