The Andy and Amanda Show take on the Texas Abortion Law, Afghanistan, Kevin McCarthy and more. Join the conversation
Join Andy and Amanda. They have never met. They were introduced about 16 months ago by the "Coast to Coast Show" Coordinator Cornell Butler and have since completed over 200 shows. They are often off-the-cuff silly, present comical audio clips that they produce, have provocative takes on the news, and present an engaging and sometimes, even entertaining talk-radio show with some great guests along the way.
They're now saying
"Only on the Andy and Amanda Show."
Come on in and join the conversation..
- Last night at 11:56 p.m., Whole Woman’s Health, an abortion provider that has four clinics in Texas, performed its last abortion in Fort Worth in compliance with Texas’ restrictive abortion law SB 8, which went into effect today.
SB 8, also known as the “Heartbeat Act,” allows citizens to sue providers who perform abortions after approximately six weeks, or when cardiac activity is detected in a fetus. The law is one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the country.
- President Joe Biden condemned the Texas fetal “heartbeat” bill, which bans the procedure of abortions as early as six weeks into pregnancy as of Sept 1.
Biden said the bill “blatantly violates the constitutional right established under Roe v. Wade” and will “impair women’s access to the health care they need, particularly for communities of color and individuals with low incomes.”
He said his administration is committed to the constitutional right under Roe v. Wade and will protect and defend that right.
Biden released the following statement:
Today, Texas law SB8 went into effect. This extreme Texas law blatantly violates the constitutional right established under Roe v. Wade and upheld as a precedent for nearly half a century. The Texas law will significantly impair women’s access to the health care they need, particularly for communities of color and individuals with low incomes. And, outrageously, it deputizes private citizens to bring lawsuits against anyone who they believe has helped another person get an abortion, which might even include family members, health care workers, front desk staff at a health care clinic, or strangers with no connection to the individual. My administration is deeply committed to the constitutional right established in Roe v. Wade nearly five decades ago and will protect and defend that right.
- The majority" of Afghans who worked for the United States during its two-decade military campaign were likely left behind in the chaotic and rushed evacuation from Afghanistan, a senior State Department official said Wednesday.
