The 4 Winds
Bible mentions that the angel of the lord was holding the four winds of the earth. These winds were a destructive force of God’s judgment, as they often are mentioned in the Old Testament.
Four corners of the earth are an ancient equivalent to the idea of the four points of the compass. The idea is that these angels effect the entire earth.
The Four Corners for our life would mean our position, our posture, our thinking, and our willingness to act upon a given situation.
The winds that the Bible talks about are spirits; agents of war, positioned in heaven and released by God for battle.
They stand at the four corners of the earth, and they hold the four winds of the earth.
The four winds which they hold in their hands have in view judgment. The four angels have been granted the power to harm the earth and the sea.
In verse 3 they are expressly told not to harm the earth, the sea, or the trees.
These four angels have the power to harm the earth. They have the power to bring God’s judgments upon the earth. That is the significance of the wind.
Think of the destruction wind has brought upon the earth.
You have heard of the damage caused by tornadoes sweeping through Midwest towns, destroying homes, claiming lives.
We know that hurricanes claim thousands of lives. The wind signifies judgment.
The four angels, standing at the four corners of the earth, hold in their hands the four winds of the earth.
This is the Kairos moment or the appointed time, the stopgap when we have the time to preach the gospel. The window of opportunity that is provided to us.
The judgment is being held back for us to reach out to the families, reach out to those who have not heard the gospel.
This is a season of fruitfulness, allowed in the timeline of God for us to be fruitful.
Are you willing?
Let Us Pray
Heavenly Father, help us to continue to understand the appointed time and work towards what you have appointed us for. To take the gospel, to reach the unknown places, and to be faithful to the word that we hear. Help us not to be just hearers of the word but also doers of the word.
In Jesus Name. Amen.
