Where is your Faith?
Luke 8:22-25
As a follower of Jesus, the question we often ask is, God, where are you when life is spinning? Where are you when I’m holding on for dear life?
When all things seem against us, and we’re blinded by despair, we are called to have faith in Jesus Christ. Often, the storms of life lead us to feelings of hopelessness.
We’re scared. We believe we’re lost. We don’t know if we can survive this next storm. What’s worse: it seems that God does not care.
We see in this passage, the storm at sea threatens their lives, Jesus rebukes first the storm, and then the disciples––they lack faith.
As Christians, we should never live in fear. Yet, too often, we do.
Our problem is not different than these disciples as we question Jesus’ commitment to us.
And our call is the same. We must not question God’s goodness but trust Him. We must have full confidence in Jesus.
Their unbelief was not about being afraid of a fearful circumstance, but their unwillingness to hear Jesus saying, Let us go over to the other side of the lake (Luke 8:22).
Jesus didn’t say, “Let’s do the best to cross over to the other side as much as we can and there is a high chance that we will all drown.”
Difficult circumstances like storms are not evidence of unbelief.
Unbelief is the rejection of a promise or a command of God relevant to a particular situation.
The disciples also should have known that God would not allow the Messiah to perish in a boat crossing the Sea of Galilee.0
It was not possible for the story of Jesus the Messiah to end with Him drowning in the Sea of Galilee.
We must remove unbelief and have faith. 1 John 4:4 Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
We must understand that God is willing to revive our heart, our life, our family, our nation.
Unbelief or unwilling to believe in revival in such a time like this, unbelief to believe that it is the community God has chosen for revival will only make us miss on the Kairos moment God has appointed for us.
When Jesus rebuked the storm, they were amazed. When we allow God to take control, we can see manifestation and display of God`s power over the creation, human, and the spiritual world.
His power and authority is displayed when you are faithful to God, believe in His sovereignty, and faithfulness surrounds You.
You can calm the raging of the sea; when waves rise, he will help you to still them.
This is a season God is asking us to raise up above the waves in faith.
Let us pray
Dear lord, we confess that we have in the past lacked faith, and have lived in unbelief. Help us to raise up above the storm in faith. Grant us the strength to hold on to the faith. In Jesus Name. Amen.
Blessings & Prayers
