In today’s episode, I will discuss 7 things to pay attention to when you are looking at a package of food and the nutrition label. By understanding the food labels and nutrition labels, you can make better choices when you’re trying to be healthier!
In the episode, I tell you how to calculate the percentage of fat calories in a food. Here is how:
Take total grams of fat per serving and multiply by 9 (calories/gram of fat). Then take that number and divide it by the total amount of calories per serving. Then multiply that number by 100. You will get your answer.
Example: Food has 360 calories and 13 grams of fat
13 x 9 = 117
117/360 =.325
.325 x 100= 32.5% Food has 32.5% of fat calories. This is pretty high.
