Episode 704 - Tribute 2 Trevor Series: Neutral Thinking

In 2013, at the age of 42, I was diagnosed with adult ADHD. My doctor convinced me to consider medication for my lack of focus. He said, “your life will never be the same.” Reluctantly, I tried it and my life was changed forever. The first thing I did was read. Reading had always been a struggle for me because it was hard to retain what I read. As I read, I realized how much of a negative person I was. Every part of the world I looked at was from a negative perspective. I learned by reading that rich or successful people have an ultra-positive outlook on life. It was as if they never had a bad day. I began to think that way. Always trying to find the positive in any situation.
When I first met Trevor Moawad in August of 2018 it was five years after I had shifted my mindset to a positive one. . . or attempted to have a positive mindset. Trevor walked on the stage and started his speech with a question, “how many times have you had positive thoughts and your day still sucks.
“That’s me.” I thought to myself. “Who is this guy?” I wondered.
Trevor continued, “positive thinking doesn’t work all the time, does it?”
“No, no it doesn’t.” I said like a giddy little schoolgirl raising my hand.
“You know what works 100% of the time?” Trevor asked. I waited in eager anticipation. “Negative thinking.” I paused and sat back in my chair pondering what had just happened. He just said positive thinking doesn’t work all the time, yet negative thinking works 100% of the time. I had no idea what was going on.
“Let me tell you something about neutrality and the power of neutral thinking.” Trevor continued to share, and my self-help philosophies were taking shape.
