I completed my morning pages every day this week and even wrote more than three pages a couple of times. My artist date was simple - baking cookies and watching a Christmas movie - but I did it!
In this chapter, there is a lot of talk about negative core beliefs. These are a result of societal and personal conditioning around creativity. You may feel like your aren't good enough to be an artist (whatever creative title you wish to hold), that you won't be successful, that you would become a burden to others or any number of beliefs that come from external sources.
These become your inner "censor" that shows up to belittle you or discourage you when you try to think positively about your abilities. Like the ego, the censor is trying to keep you in your comfort zone because the unknown seems unsafe. The mean phrases that come up the most are your "blurts" and you should write these down! You can then create affirmations to counteract them.

As I said last week, I like to think of this book as the artist's shadow work since it looks at aspects of yourself that have been ignored. I suggest getting a copy if you can but either way, you can follow along and do some of the weekly exercises!
