1. Immediate pains of giving up the bad habit
2. Immediate pleasure of indulging in the bad habit
3. Long term pain of not giving up the bad habit.
4. Long term pleasure of giving up the bad habit.
Once we have all the pros and cons ready, all we have to do is contemplate & convince our intellect that pt 3 & 4 are much greater than pt 1, & 2.
Whatever your bad habits are, you'll be able to use this strategy to quit them.
