Horse Gate
Nehemiah 3:28
We have been Journeying through the gates of Nehemiah and how the people of Israel work together to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem
There were 10 gates mentioned in the rebuilding of the walls. We looked at what these gates were used for and how they remind us of Jesus and His finished work on the Cross!
Sheep Gate: reminds us that Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Through him we have been saved.
Fish Gate: which reminds us that we are people called to be fishers of men. How desperate we need to repair these gates.
Old Gate: It reminds us that the old still exists in us all. Reminds us that Jesus makes us New Creations.
Valley gate reminds us that Jesus is with us even during the low and tough times in life.
Dung gate reminds us that we have been saved, cleansed from our sin once and for all through Jesus Christ.
Fountain Gate The Fountain Gate refers to the Holy Spirit, which springs up in us like a fountain, blessing all those around us.
Water Gate The Water Gate can be related to the Word of God. Day by day reading of the Word of God, and hearing the Word preached, cleanses our soul.
The Horse Gate, East Gate, and Inspection Gate were located in the northeastern section of the wall.
The Horse Gate ( Neh 3:28) was on the east side of the Temple overlooking the Kidron Valley.
It was the gate through which horses entered and exited the palace area, and the horse stables were probably located near it.
The gate is believed to be situated near the stables of Solomon that housed some of his twelve thousand horses, the ones that he had with him in Jerusalem. (1 Kings 10:26.)
The Horse Gate was close to the King’s stables. The men of Jerusalem would ride their horses out of this gate to war, and after the war, the king’s chariots will pass through the gates on its way back into the city in triumphant procession.
The Horse Gate is a reminder of the believers’ warfare because the horse is a symbol of war. This gate reminds us of our need to be good soldiers of Jesus Christ (2 Tim. 2:3) and to be fully equipped to fight the good fight of faith (Eph. 6:10–18; 2 Tim. 4:7).
Horse Gate reminds us that Jesus has won the victory for us!
On the cross, Jesus defeated sin: His perfect life was sacrificed to pay the full punishment of sin. So sin and its consequences fear, worry, sadness no longer has any demand or hold over us anymore.
By His resurrection, Jesus defeated death: By raising from the dead, Jesus showed that even death could not hold Him anymore. He had defeated death!
In Revelations 19:11-12, Jesus is seen on a white horse and all the armies of heaven on white horses were behind him. He wears many crowns on His head to show that He has won the victory.
Spiritual warfare, as we will see in this entire study on Nehemiah, is a requirement of every Christian because we are all in a battle whether we know it or not.
It is also interesting that the horse gate follows the water (word) gate for as the word goes forth the spiritual warfare is sure to increase!
The ultimate fulfilment prophetically of the horse gate will be in the Tribulation the Day of the Lord as described in Revelation 6-19.
Let us be good soldiers of this invisible war at hand.
Lets Pray:
Heavenly Father, help us to be warriors for you and your kingdom. Help us to allow the Holy spirit to dwell in us, the word to revive us that we may be equipped and ready for the battle. Amen.
