Welcome to Episode #99 of American Real, where this week we bring to you artist, Robert Hoover, who just completed his 20th First Friday art exhibition.

Robert began painting 13 years ago, after having an intense dream of painting a canvas. The next morning he told himself he had to start painting and hasn’t looked back since.

A majority of his works are captivating, abstract acrylic on canvas, with intense colors and lines. He also creates collages and portraits in his very unique style.

Robert talks about a successful career being "all about relationships,” and he would know. After working more than three decades in the cut-throat magazine industry in NYC, Robert worked for top publications such as Cosmopolitan, Esquire and O to name a few.

This is a story of a man who overcame adversity in his life, yet persevered, finding joy in his family and passion through his expression of artwork, which he describes as being 'modern and free'.
