On August 1st, 1966, Charles Whitman killed his wife and mother in the middle of the night. Later that day, he targeted people on the University of Texas at Austin's campus indiscriminately. He terrorized the campus for 96 minutes, injuring 31 people and killing 15. Later it was discovered that Whitman had a tumor in his brain, and his case has been the subject of discussion for decades as scientists and investigators question whether the tumor was the cause of his actions.
