Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) refers to the group of lung diseases which make it hard for the patient to breathe. Most COPD cases are caused by smoke or dust-related problems. But in developing countries like India, causes of COPD cases seem to vary, and they are not related to smoking. Underdeveloped lung capacity at a young age because of exposure to indoor air pollution like combustion of traditional fuels/coal and outdoor air pollution are the risk factors. Prevention of COPD involves avoiding exposure to these risk factors. Listen Dr. Srinivas Rajagopalan, Senior Interventional Pulmonologist, Kauvery Hospital talk about COPD risk factors and appropriate treatment methods for COPD.
