Ep.42A: Everything About HAWKEYE! News RE: City of Fire, Spider-Man! Comic Books! She-Hulk & Wyatt Wingfoot in CEREMONY! +MORE
Big Greetings on this Big Monday Episode! I took last week off for "Fall Break," but we're back today with a seriously oversized podcast episode! Stick around, cause there's a lot to catch!
We start is off with the news as usual (0:14:13), covering a number of smaller No Way Home updates before getting into one very big and very exciting Spider-Man franchise update (0:18:27)! After the news of Matt Reeves' The Batman runtime, we go on to briefly discuss the Super Crooks Netflix Anime from Millar-World (0:24:52), and finish off the news with talk on the cancellation of Luke Cage: City of Fire, and why that is such a poor decision for Marvel to apparently have made ( 0:27:05).
We have two big comic book segments today, the first being the weekly Pick list for comics that came out last week, on the 23rd and 24th. At the top of the list sits John Ridley's Black Panther #1, Jed McKay's Death of Doctor Strange #3, and the final issue of Hickman/Huddleston's Decorum. Admittedly, I also spend some time complaining about the new X-Men run, t the end (0:44:31). For the pull list for this week's comics (0:49:30), I'm looking forward to a number of #1's, one-shots, anniversary issues, and final issues, among others. It's a big week for comics, for sure!
The massive, all-inclusive Hawkeye discussion (1:07:52) certainly has more information than you need to know, with episode 2 kicking in at 1:28:04. I've also compiled a list of all the points (I have 8 groupings) the show has taken from the 2012 Matt Fraction/David Aja Hawkeye comic book series, for which neither creator has been given any credit for (1:38:29). In my opinion, designers of stories that re turned into other major media ought to be paid the way any costume or set designers would be.
After Hawkeye is my thoughts on the Netflix live action Cowboy Bebop show (1:43:25), which are mostly positive! I haven't finished it, but I'm enjoying it so far.
Finally, to mark the holiday that passed us by last week, I put together a discussion of 1989-1990's She-Hulk: Ceremony (1:46:56). It covers a lot of topics relevant to our modern world, many of which I go into depth on in my written discussion, which can be found on my website blog, linked below. I cover the general plot of the story, the legendary feud between Ceremony writer Brian McDuffie and Sensational She-Hulk writer John Byrne (1:50:37), and finally, the one, the only, Wyatt Wingfoot! 1:58:38 Wingfoot is a character with old, strong ties between himself and Johnny Storm and the Fantastic Four, Jen Walters, Black Panther, and other major marvel heroes. He's chief of his Keewazi tribe from Oklahoma, a proven warrior, empath, and thinker, and is one of my best guesses at characters soon to be introduced to the MCU! You can check out this discussion for his character history, relevant ties, where he was inspired from, and anything else you could possibly want to know about Wyatt Wingfoot!
I'll be back with the next podcast episode Friday the 3rd (or September the 4th) covering the Wednesday episode of Hawkeye, comic book picks for the week, and any other news, which I'm sure there will be plenty of! Stay warm and dry, keep it sweaty, and try not to cast judgement.
