SUMMARY OF THE PODCAST:
Artists have to face the constant onslaught of societal norms and pressures that don't always play nice with what we do. Whether it's our own friends and family, or the images around us, there's a lot of things that we're supposed to have or want. When we can see what it's all about, we learn how to deal with it in healthier ways, discover new truths, and find a deeper resolve.
POINT #1: "PEOPLE DON'T ALWAYS UNDERSTAND”
- No matter how much we try to explain or validate our choices to be artists to the people around us, some people simply don't understand, that's okay. It's not meant to necessarily be mean or negative, it's their own fearful projections based on their limited perceptions.
POINT #2: “MONEY... ANY SURPRISES THERE?”
- Society is so caught up in materialism and money as a means of happiness. This is the biggest challenge that most artists are up against especially when you're just getting going. Get a car, get a house, get this, get that and on and on and on. By being able to see these patterns we can find the bigger reasons for doing our art and express with more fullness.
POINT #3: “PUT YOURSELF IN A PLACE OF POWER”
- We are in the society that we are in, and that does have certain obligations. Instead of bemoaning our environment we can learn to be more disciplined with our money, our needs and wants, and find practical ways of making the financial realities of life less of a burden and even a place of strength.
