By allowing room to make a mistake you develop a creative approach that provides a new form of freedom. Every now and then we have a conversation that is off the cuff and we expand on an idea before we have fully thought it out. This is a great practice for the artist because not only does it help you get out of your own way by not overthinking it, but it allows you to move quickly on your creative impulses. This one may be something that helps you let go of a need to to do it perfectly or flawlessly and will give you options that were otherwise unavailable.
