The Story That Never Grows Old
Text: Luke 2:1-7
Thesis: God the Son, left heaven and came to earth to live among us and
“to give his life as a ransom for many.” - Matthew 20:28
1. Glory, Glory, Glory to the Newborn King. (Jesus is the King of Kings…)
A. The prophet said, He would be called Emmanuel which means, “God with us.”
* “All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will be
with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” - - which means, “God with us.”
Matthew 1:22-23
* “But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be
with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the
Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house
of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.”
Luke 1:30-33
B. The same Jesus was involved with the Triune God-head in creating the world in which we
live.
* “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were
created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all
things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
Colossians 1:15-17
2. Jesus left Heaven and came to earth to live as one of us.
A. It is a miracle - “God became flesh”
* “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was
with God in the beginning... The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the
glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
John 1:1-2 & 14
B. Jesus left the Glory of Heaven to demonstrate how much He loves us.
* “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still
sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8
3. Jesus was born in Bethlehem to be our Savior.
A. The King of Kings came to be the Lamb of God that was crucified for our sins.
* “But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be
for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.”
Luke 2:10-11
