“Are Critics The Greatest?” Of course not, but also, sometimes, yes. We have writer, podcaster, and Twitter giant Lon Harris on to discuss the value of film criticism in the modern age. This one is a fun debate as we examine where we get our criticism and film opinion from and what role we expect film criticism to serve now. Most people say they know what they like and need no help deciding what to watch but then why are Rotten Tomatoes scores all over every movie advertisement? With so many entertainment options vying for our attention and time, maybe finding film opinions you can trust is more important than ever. But also maybe we need to move beyond the simple binary idea of “Good and Bad” and embrace developing a more adventurous entertainment palette. Much food for thought in this ep.
