Trust needs to be rebuilt between the United Kingdom and the EU for the UK to be regarded as a strategic partner in the future.
So says the European Commission’s Vice-President Maros Sefkovic. He was responding to similar comments made this morning by the French President Emmanuel Macron during an address to the European Parliament.
President Macron called on the UK to respect agreements made such as the Northern Ireland protocol and those on fishing rights.
Mr Sefkovic echoed Mr Macron’s views after the President finished outlining the priorities of the French Presidency of the Council of the EU which began this month.
